Due to the significantly reduced process forces, ULTRASONIC allows the usage of hollow diamond tools with smaller diameters with parallel reduced grinding pressure to the work piece surface. This results in less sub-surface damage and excellent surface qualities of Ra < 0.1 µm.

At this year´s EMO 2015 in Milan we will show the complete machining of a representative, technical glass component with thin-walled light-weight-structures down to 2 mm wall thickness in Zerodur. Similar work pieces can be found, for example in the field of EUV lithograph machines, which are used for the illumination of wafer plates for the microchip industry.
The optical component itself is used for the precise alignment and adjustment of the scanner unit. The material Zerodur guarantees the best thermal stability.

Experience the LIVE machining of this part at this year´s EMO 2015 (05.-10.10.) in Milan on the DMG MORI booth in hall 4 – being performed on the ULTRASONIC 30 linear.
